Personalization FAQs

Q) Can I change the spelling of a name once my personalized ornament order has been placed?

A)

No. In order to accommodate the high volume of sales received during the holiday season, we process orders immediately. Please be sure to check your spellings and the quantity of items ordered BEFORE submitting payment. If you have questions or concerns, please contact us at customerservice@personalizedornamentsforyou.com. We will do our best to work with you; however, we are not liable for any spelling or quantity errors once your purchase has been submitted to us. If you receive your personalized ornament and realize you have misspelled a name, please contact us at customerservice@personalizedornamentsforyou.com. Please be sure to include your invoice number, the incorrect and correct spellings as well as a photo of the affected item. In many cases, we will work out an arrangement to make the necessary corrections. However, due to certain finishes and glazes, some of our ornaments cannot be corrected or changed. Personalized Ornaments For You is not liable for a customer’s error and is unable to make a refund in these cases. Customers are responsible for all postage costs in connection with correcting spelling errors. Please note that the corrections may need to occur after the holiday season depending on the time of the year.

Q) How many letters can fit on a personalized ornament?

A)

As a general rule of thumb, we can write approximately what is shown on the sample.  In some cases, we may specify the maximum number of letters which can be written on an ornament. We make every attempt to place your wording where you see it on our sample. However, due to spacing constraints, final placement is left up to the individual artist personalizing your ornament.  In some cases, our artists may also need to shorten phrases like “First” to “1st” or “Second” to “2nd”. Please use the *SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS* box located in the final step of the check-out to make any special requests. If we cannot fit your request in the space provided or use an appropriate shortened option, we will contact you via email.

Q) What will the lettering look like on my personalized ornament?

A)

Most of the personalized ornaments shown on our site are examples of the quality of writing you can expect from our talented artists. In some cases, we have used computer generated text as a sample of text placement. Our hand-written ornaments are completed by a team of experienced professionals. Our artists may write in all caps or use a combination of upper case and lower case letters unless a requested style is specified in the “special instructions” portion of the ordering form. Due to the variances in each artist’s style, we cannot guarantee that the lettering on your ornament will look exactly like the samples shown on our site. However, we will guarantee you that the text will be attractively lettered and properly centered. At the discretion of our personalizers, the location of names, sentiment and dates may vary from sample shown.

Q) I would like for the personalizer to write in ALL CAPS on my personalized ornament. How do I let you know about this?

A)

Please use the *SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS* box located in the final step of the check-out to request CAPITAL letters on your ornaments. Entering your personalization request in ALL CAPS  will not ensure that your order is completed using capital letters.  Contact customerservice@personalizedornamentsforyou.com with questions.

Q) Will you write on the back of the ornaments or tell the gift recipient who the item is from?

A)

Unfortunately, due to the varied surfaces of our items, we are not able to personalize the back of our ornaments unless we specifically include this information on our ordering form. Most of our ornaments (other than glass keepsakes) arrive with a sticker so that you may add your own “personal” touch for your family and friends. When making a gift order, we will write the purchaser’s name on the sticker so that the gift recipient will be able to send a proper thank you.

Q) Can I add a paw print or a red heart like I see on so many of your examples?

A)

Yes, whenever you use a dog or cat’s name on a personalized ornament, you can add a paw print as well. You can even order a family ornament with extra heads and write your pets’ names on them. For example, if you are a family of five, you can order a fireplace with seven stockings and put your dog’s name on the 6th stocking and your cat’s name on the 7th stocking, each with a paw print.

Q) Is there an extra charge for the paw print or red heart?

A)

No, there is no extra charge for this personalization. Complimentary hand personalizations are provided for each ornament.

Q) I'd like to give a personalized ornament to someone special in my child's life, but I am unsure of how to sign it, any suggestions?

A)

We usually sign our ornaments given by children to teachers, grandparents, aunts, etc., with a red heart in front of the child’s name. If this is not appropriate for your child’s situation, or you would like to use a word instead of a heart, please use the *SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS* box located in the check-out area to add additional instruction for our personalizers.

Q) A friend of mine is pregnant and I would like to give her a personalized ornament, but I don't know the gender of the child. What do you suggest?

A)

Some customers use “Baby-to-Be”, a question mark, or “Baby” with an arrow (printed on the woman’s belly) to denote a baby on the way. You can also write the baby’s last name such as Baby Jones or Baby Smith.

Q) Which name should go first, the man or the woman?

A)

For gender neutral ornaments, we typically write the woman’s name first which is shown in many of the samples on our site. For ornaments that include both a male and female, the female character often includes eyelashes so you can easily note the gender.

Q) Can I use colored lettering on my personalized ornaments?

A)

From our many years of experience, we have found that most lettering looks best when written in black ink. However, certain ink colors work fine on sports ornaments to denote a team or school color. We have found that orange, red, green, shades of blue, brown and purple look nice when written on a white shirt, white skirt, white ball or white megaphone. If you have a special request for ink colors, please indicate this information in the “SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS” portion of the ordering form.

Q) Does a family's last name have an apostrophe?

A)

There should be no apostrophe when writing a family’s last name. For example, we would write “The Smiths” and not “The Smith’s”. An apostrophe would be used if the writing includes a possessive noun, such as “The Smith’s New Home”. When ordering for a family whose name ends in “S” or “Z”, we highly suggest writing “The Jones Family” or “The Gomez Family”, rather than “The Joneses” and “The Gomezes”.

Q) What materials are used to make your ornaments?

A)

Most of our ornaments are made from resin, glass, clay, claydough or salt dough and many of our items are handmade. Since our handmade ornaments are not factory produced, variations may occur in these items. For example, hat colors may change, bows might be added to figures, or the placement of heads, etc., may vary slightly. Color variants will be used in figures; however, the overall ornament appearances remain consistent.

Q) What are your pet attachment color options and can I add them to any ornament?

A)

Many of our ornaments offer the option to add pet attachments.  We offer both cats and dogs in a variety of color options.  Contact customerservice@personalizedornamentsforyou.com for more detailed pictures of our pets.  Please note that pets can only be added to ornaments that already specify that option in the ornament description. However, we may be able to add a paw-print to the ornament even if we cannot fit an actual pet. Please contact us for further information.

Q) Can I include an emoji or symbol on my ornament?

A)

In most cases, we are able to include hearts or paw-prints on our items in addition to hand-written text.  Other characters, including emojis, cannot be added to our ornaments.  Please contact us at customerservice@personalizedornamentsforyou.com for further clarification or for questions.

Q) Do your ornament styles change?

A)

On occasion, our manufacturers may update the style of our ornaments.  If the new version of the ornament is similar in design, we will automatically substitute the new ornament for you.  If the new style is significantly different than what is pictured on our site, we will contact you via the email address provided on your ordering form.  Please note that we make every effort to ensure our web site shows the latest version of our ornaments.
